ABOUT
MORE THAN JUST DESIGNER
I am a maker. A storyteller that values both process and passion.
Warm coffee in the morning. slow weekends. time with family. Laughing with my boys. baking. puzzling. life through my lens. a good list. building virtual carts. learning new skills.
FINDING MY BALANCE
Hello hi! My name is Leslie and whether by chance or on purpose, I’m happy you’re here. And before you click or scroll, while I have you, allow me to take just a few paragraphs of your time to share a little more insight into who I am. And while maybe not shocking, I hope this leaves you knowing more than you already knew.
At my core, I love when things make sense. You know the saying “think outside the box” well it might be surprising that rules and boundaries kickstart my creativity. And while a boxless world has its benefits, knowing my frame has always granted me the freedoms to make the most out of everything that’s available. In my perspective just because there is a frame, the size, scale and volume are still yet to be determined.
Lets talk about the frame. In design, it can be defined as the consumer, the environment of use, an experience map, the brand context and much more. These are the factors that create the guidelines for intentional and thoughtful decisions, creating purpose and rationale in a scalable way. And for the last 15 years I dove head first in the tech industry (specifically consumer electronics) finessing my expertise across a myriad of products and user experiences. From developing the definition of the challenge to concept options to prototyping solutions and manufacturing the actual details of the design, this was my world. Well it was half of it. The other part to designing with intension is understanding the context of how the world is changing. From color trends and theory to consumer motivations and movements, understanding the dance between consumer desires and the path to innovation was a challenge I happily accepted.
In all other creative ventures, for me the frame provides focus. My years in photography, both in the dark room and digital, I enjoy how my lens provides the focus amidst the noise. It quiets the world a bit while amplifying what’s in view. And that has taught me to see beauty in life’s vignettes, no matter how small or fleeting they might be.
