people Management
university Design course
Objective
Create a course for undergraduate students introducing them to design thinking methods for the purpose of problem solving.
-
During my tenure as and IIT Adjunct Professor, I had the opportunity to teach two courses. The first one I was the co-instructor of a sponsored class on Urban Farming for Chicago Food Authority where I lead the instruction on how to use design methodology to frame, organize, navigate data and communicate a complex problem to a client.
The second course, Designed for Silence was a self initiated research topic that I wrote a course proposal to pitch for semester student selection. I then developed the grading criteria, instructed the class and reviewed all course assigned work.
-
Over both courses, I oversaw the instruction for 40+ students; managing grades, attendance, peer reviews, open office hours for student engagement, concept reviews, presentation expectation and final deliverables.
-
This experience confirmed my affinity of guiding someone in exploring educational career progression. Mentoring and sharing my experience in a relatable way that is tailored to the individuals needs is a great way to use my years of experience to give back and encourage the next wave of creative thinkers any any discipline.

I’ve had the opportunity to experience guidance by several amazing managers in my years of experience. And while there are many ways to manage people, I found it very insightful to learn my employees strengths and capabilities and leverage that in ways to expand on what were new skills and challenges.
